The heart of the company - Thank you for 30 years!
There are some coffees you never forget. Not just for their taste or aroma, but for what they accompany: a significant moment, a difficult winter, a cherished habit, a loved one.
At Café Castelo, we've always said that coffee creates bonds. But after almost 30 years, we realize that these bonds have become chapters in our story. They're the faces that come back every week. The first names we've come to know. The children we've watched grow up, the couples who treat themselves to the same kind every year, the customers who simply say, in passing: "I've been ordering the Miel Noir since 2001."
And it is in this quiet loyalty that we find our best barometer. Because if you come back, year after year, it means something resonates. It means we are doing our job well.
So today, we wanted to take a moment to tell some winter stories, inspired by customers you may encounter every day without realizing it.
Mr. Girard and his Black Honey
He always arrives right when it opens. Same coat, same smile. Since 1997. He takes his bag from Black Honey, Ground for filter. He started his adventure at Castelo, first at our store in Limoilou, then on Cartier Street, and now he comes to the factory. He doesn't talk much, but he always takes the time to tell us that we bring him daily joy. Imagine the pleasure of doing a job you love and having a testimonial like this.
Léa and her mother, every Saturday
Léa used to come when she was 12 years old. Before her Saturday piano lessons, she would accompany her mother who was buying... Maragogype. She used to come because she knew she'd get a little chocolate from the barista. Now, she's the one ordering. She's kept up the habit and the same kind as her mother. We hope one day her children will take over so we can boast that we're a family business spanning several generations.
Marcel and Nicole: the great iced winter coffees
This retired couple comes regardless of the weather. Their habit? A Iced coffee with black honey, Even in January. They laugh, saying it's their way of "disobeying winter." But beneath the humor, you sense it's a ritual that connects them. They take their time. They savor it. And they always leave us a kind word or a book recommendation.
Sam, a student who became a believer
He started coming in 2012, between university classes. He hadn't yet found "his" coffee. So we let him try some. First the Classic, then the Calamari, finally the Papua. He eventually found his preference. Today, he visits less often, but he still orders online, and in the order notes, he always leaves us a riddle.
These stories are true in spirit. And even if the names change, the heart remains: it is your visits, your rituals, your loyalty, that have motivated us from day one.
We're not a company born from a business plan. We're a family who arrived here with a bag of coffee, a dream, and a desire to do good through a simple yet carefully crafted product. And if we're still here today, it's because you've chosen to stay with us.
Thank you for every memory you have shared with us.
Thank you for every habit you have built here.
And thank you for still being here in 2026, preferring a locally made, authentic coffee.
