At Café Castelo, our passion for coffee goes hand in hand with a deep commitment to environmental responsibility. We understand the importance of protecting our planet and are actively working to reduce our ecological footprint through various sustainable initiatives. Here are a few points our eco-responsible policy :

Eco-friendly packaging

We have chosen to use recyclable and soon biodegradable packaging for our products. This decision reflects our commitment to minimizing waste and encouraging recycling among our customers. By reducing the use of non-biodegradable materials, we contribute to a significant reduction in our carbon footprint and better waste management. We have a program with our retail outlets for the reuse of all packaging so that it can not only be recycled but also given several lives before ending up in the recycling bin.

Deliveries

For every order placed on our online store, we plant a tree in partnership with Eden Reforestation Projects. This initiative allows us to improve each carbon-neutral delivery, thus offsetting the CO2 emissions generated by transporting our products. It's our way of actively contributing to reforestation and the fight against climate change.

Recycling of coffee grounds and coffee jute

Coffee grounds, a byproduct of our roasting process, find a new life thanks to our partnerships with players in the agricultural and cosmetics sectors. These collaborations allow us to reuse coffee grounds as fertilizer and as an ingredient in cosmetic products, transforming what could be waste into a valuable resource. We also offer coffee grounds free of charge to farmers, thus protecting their agriculture by giving waste a second life.

Improvements in roasting

We have installed an afterburner system that reduces volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted during roasting by up to 95%. This system ensures cleaner air, contributing to a significant reduction in local pollution. Furthermore, switching from propane to natural gas in our roasting processes further minimizes our environmental impact.

Product Innovations - Research Department & development

We are proud to develop and market eco-friendly products, such as our Universal Grind, which allows you to use up to 50% less coffee per brew. This innovation not only reduces coffee consumption but also the emissions associated with its production, which account for 80% of greenhouse gas emissions in the coffee lifecycle. Furthermore, our coffee capsules, specially treated for reusable machines, offer a sustainable alternative to disposable capsules, guaranteeing a perfect brew every time. Our goal is to offer the most environmentally friendly way to enjoy coffee at home, at the office, regardless of the coffee maker.
