Guide to preserving coffee: tips and mistakes to avoid

Have you ever wondered about the right way to store your coffee? In this article we present the best practices for preserving coffee to maintain its freshness and quality, as well as common mistakes to avoid.

Avoid the fridge and freezer for coffee

Keeping your coffee in the fridge or freezer may seem like a good idea, but it's actually a practice you should avoid. Temperature variations and odours in these appliances can affect the quality of your coffee, and the moisture and condensation created when coffee is removed from the fridge or freezer can lead to mould and spoil the flavour.

The impact of air and light on coffee

Coffee is extremely sensitive to its environment. To preserve it at its best, it is crucial to protect it from air and light, which accelerate oxidation and degrade coffee quality.

The ideal way to preserve coffee

To preserve your coffee at its best, store it in an airtight, opaque container, in a dry place, away from humidity and light. If you have a glass pot, be careful not to place it under a window. close to the sun. This method is simple, effective and guarantees the freshness and flavour of your coffee.  We don't recommend metal pots, however, as the coffee absorbs the material and influences the taste.

N.B. We've tested our Universal Grind and found that its shelf life is extended, thanks to the way the coffee is treated during the series of mechanical processes it undergoes. All the more reason to give it a try!
